Every time I get back to the area I have to hit Johnny's. The family has been going there since the early days of the original place, on 3rd Street. Remember sitting there, having an anchovy pie and watching the Yankees on the B&W TV behind the counter.

The new(er) location has basically kept the same quality (some of the newer ingredients do make it different - no more hand-sliced fresh mozzarella), but the crust and sauce are almost exactly as I had remembered them from the late 50's.

*THIS* is what I mean when I describe a real, good NY pizza to people.
